1 April 2013 - KB Ganesh Kumar submitted his resignation to Oommen Chandy on late night 1 April 2013.
This resignation came up after Yamini Thankachan filed a complaint with Police saying that Ganesh Kumar used to beat her.
Ganesh Kumar on the same day in morning had submitted a petition to family court that his wife had beaten him in face and injured him.

The need of an unwanted election if Ganesh Kumar resigns from the MLA post could have made UDF decide not to accept the resignation of KB Ganesh Kumar.
On 6 March 2013 , K. B. Ganesh Kumar Kerala's Forest, Sports and Cinema Minister has conveyed to Oommen Chandy that he is ready to resign from Minister's post and ready to compete in election again.
The drama like events took place in Kerala Politics with the revelation by P. C. George that husband of a lady had beaten the minister Ganesh Kumar for having illegal affair with her.
This led to the divorce plea by Ganesh Kumar's wife Yamini Thankachi.
The decision regarding whether to accept Ganesh Kumar's resignation will be made on 7 March 2013 in UDF meeting.
